Austin Mulder and Danielle Aarssen

Introduction:
They say that rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck, but for Danielle and Austin, it was simply an added layer of magic. Their summer wedding at Forest City National Golf Course in London, Ontario, was a beautiful reminder that when two people are as in love as these two, not even a sudden downpour can dampen the celebration. As their London Ontario wedding photographers, we were captured by how gracefully they embraced the elements to create an unforgettable lakeside ceremony.

The Morning: Downtown Prep at One-12 & Park Hotel
The day began with a sense of excitement in Downtown London. Danielle and her bridesmaids gathered at One-12 Studio, a bright and sophisticated space perfect for those final bridal touches. Nearby, Austin and his groomsmen prepared at the Park Hotel London. The morning was filled with laughter and anticipation, sets of handwritten vows ready to be exchanged by the water.

The Ceremony: Embracing the Rain at Fanshawe Lake
As guests took their seats overlooking the stunning Fanshawe Lake at Forest City National, the clouds began to roll in. Just as the ceremony commenced, the rain began to fall. In a moment that felt like it was straight out of a movie, Danielle and Austin didn’t miss a beat. They stood together, surrounded by their closest friends and family, and exchanged their vows under the soft patter of raindrops.

There is something incredibly romantic about a rainy wedding ceremony—the colors of the golf course became more vibrant, the atmosphere felt more intimate, and the joy on their faces was undeniable. It was a testament to their “ride or die” connection.

Portraits: Golden Hour Rewards
As if rewarding the couple for their resilience, the skies cleared just in time for their formal portraits. We took advantage of the freshly washed greenery and the dramatic post-storm light across the Forest City National grounds. From the rolling fairways to the quiet wooded paths, Danielle and Austin looked radiant. The mist rising off the lake provided a dreamlike backdrop that you simply can’t plan for—it was a photographer’s dream.

The Reception: A High-Energy Celebration
The party moved inside the Forest City National clubhouse, where the floor-to-ceiling windows offered views of the clearing skies. The transition from the adventurous outdoor ceremony to the elegant, candle-lit reception was seamless. Heartfelt speeches, a stunning first dance, and a packed dance floor made it clear: this was a day defined by joy, not by the weather.

Closing:
Danielle and Austin, thank you for showing us that the best weddings aren’t about “perfect” weather—they are about perfect moments. If you’re looking for a London Ontario wedding photographer who can capture the beauty of your day, rain or shine, we would love to connect.
